Simple tools. Clear expectations.
Updated October 16, 2026
These terms describe use of the current lightingshot website, image editor, and downloadable browser extension.
Your content and your choices.
You retain your rights in images and captures you create or import. Use the tool only with content you are entitled to capture or edit, and respect the privacy and rights of others. You decide what to download or share.
Current features.
The extension is provided as a manually installed development build. Page layout, browser restrictions, changing content, and device memory can affect results. Captures are not guaranteed to be complete or suitable as an exact record. PDF files contain images; they do not preserve searchable text or clickable page links.
Local storage and backups.
Temporary capture data may be removed when old captures are pruned, when browser data is cleared, or when the extension is uninstalled. Export anything you want to keep and maintain your own backups.
No paid service or account.
This release has no payment, subscription, or account features. A download does not create a paid support or storage agreement. Public support contact details are not available yet.
Availability and responsibility.
The software is provided as available, without a promise of uninterrupted operation or error-free output. To the extent permitted by applicable law, no additional warranties are offered and the project operator is not responsible for loss arising from use of the tool. Nothing in these terms removes rights or obligations that applicable law does not allow to be excluded.
Independent identity.
lightingshot is an independently implemented project. Third-party browser and service names are used only to explain compatibility; they do not imply sponsorship or affiliation.
Updates.
Features and these terms may change in later releases. Check the current version before relying on a workflow.
